The School & Family Works

The School & Family Works (SFW) is a small, not for profit, social enterprise based in Richmond. Our purpose is to transform the lives of children who are failing at school because of behavioural, emotional and/or family issues and to enable long-term change.

Key services include:

Family Group A community of up to 8 families meets weekly in school with one of our therapists and a senior member of the school’s staff. Together, they help each other to address the underlying issues that are preventing the children from fulfilling their potential. Families attend for as long as they need to, usually around a year.

Parent Graduate Group For parents who have graduated from Family Group and need support to talk about and reflect upon ongoing complexities.

Food Project Food stalls run in participating Family Group schools. The stalls help to reduce food waste, provide low cost food for parents and is a chance for parents from Family Group to increase their confidence, gain work experience and reduce social isolation.
