About Organisation

Enriching lives and expanding horizons for children and young people in North Kensington and beyond.

The Rugby Portobello Trust (RPT) is an amalgamation of the Rugby Clubs (founded in 1884) The Portobello Trust (formed in 1986) and Portobello Houseshare (formed in 1992) that merged in 2003 to provide integrated support for young people in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

We are based in Walmer Road, North Kensington at the heart of an area identified as having the highest levels of income inequality according to research published by the Trust for London. Kensington and Chelsea has a ratio which is significantly higher than any other borough. The next highest rates are in Westminster, Camden and Hammersmith and Fulham. Consequently there are higher than average levels of violence and crime, as well as substance misuse.

RPT works with local children and young people to help them to fulfil their potential, keep safe and build and engage with their community. We do this by providing a range of skills, activities and great facilities alongside guidance and support. Our centre in Walmer Road is busy all day, evenings and at weekends, and last year we worked with over 2,000 young people and families on and off site.

In 2009 RPT merged with the UK-wide charity P3. P3 deliver services for socially excluded and vulnerable people offering support with housing, social care, health, justice and citizen services, including youth services. P3 has been supporting people for over 45 years and its larger centralised infrastructure has enabled RPT to focus on the expansion of its play and youth services.

Part of the P3 Group, RPT remains a local charity for local people, supported by the local community. All funds raised by RPT support projects in North Kensington.
