Grenfell Inquiry Statement
A list of resources can be found below for all those affected by the Fire.
Today the Grenfell Inquiry report has been released, 7 years after the fire took the lives of 72 members of the community.
The inquiry reveals the systematic failings of the government and private organisations to prioritise the safety of the public. Organisations and individuals failed to protect residents of the Tower through a lack of competency, responsibility and "persistent indifference" to safety. We cannot forget the loss of every life was avoidable.
Still, there have been no charges or arrests for the responsible individuals and organisations. Across the community and across the country, people living in social housing are still at risk in unsafe homes.
The inquiry highlights the perseverance of the local voluntary sector who came together to support those is need at the time of the fire, and beyond. The acts of solidarity shown since the fire have left a lifelong impression on many, joining together a community that has suffered immense loss and tragedy.
7 years on, the local voluntary sector remains essential to our community providing services and support for those in need. The community continues to act in unity and kindness for those affected.
Young K&C stands in solidarity with the community, demanding justice and truth for the lives lost and lives affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire.
Forever in our hearts 💚
