Document Your Area: An Intro to Non-Fiction Filmmaking

A free, 5-week documentary film course for 16-21 year olds based in K&C

This free, 5-week beginner's documentary film course is an introduction to non-fiction filmmaking and the creative possibilities of documentary. You will learn storytelling and research skills as well as practical filmmaking skills, including camera, editing and sound.

Over 5 sessions (2.5 hours each, including filming sessions over half term w/c 17 February), you will devise and shoot a short documentary film in groups of 2-3. Topics could include social issues such as gentrification, housing, and mental health, or an episode from local history but subjects will ultimately be decided by the participants.

Course Requirements:

  • 16-21 years old
  • must live, work, or study in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea
  • be available on Monday evenings (20 January - 24 February) for 4 sessions (see exact dates below)

DEADLINE: 8 January at 11am

NB. We will get back to everyone by early January but spaces are limited to 12 participants so please fill out the form properly.
