What We've Funded: Young Adult Mental Health Pathways
To support young adults (16-25), we have funded 6 community organisations in Kensington and Chelsea that provide local pathways to mental health and wellbeing support.
Take a look at the organisations and the projects they’re delivering to find out more.
Through 3 12-week programmes, young people will have tailored sessions based on their needs, preferences and levels of physical activity to access new points of the local community. Embracing the ethos of social prescribing the programme will bring together young people's co-collaborated ideas to benefit from mental and physical support.
Fit For Life Youth will develop an existing mentoring project "The Check In" through a 2 hour session where young adults take part in a group physical activity and they recieve 1-2-1 support. The project builds on existing relationships, creating trust between young people and youth workers to provide positive coping strategies and highlight importance of recognising signs of needing support.
"Real Talk/Real Life" is a late night session for young people existing within the "Another Way Programme". A key part of this project is to include young people, who are otherwise not supported by local services, in a weekly facilitated session to guide young people through difficult aspects of their life.
Portobello Dance School will provide young people free weekly spaces in bespoke dance classes. The classes are run by experienced local young people who will not only teach dance but act as peer mentors through the project, giving young people a safe space to explore their creativity and receive support from people they relate to.
As part of their existing wellbeing offer, Rugby Portobello Trust have expanded their programme to offer wider opportunities to young people. They will take part in a range of wellbeing activities such as yoga, art therapy and nature-based activities.
Young people will take part in weekly basketball games as a mechanism for forming healthy relationships, developing routines and finding community spaces. The weekly sports activity not only provides a physical outlet but supports the emotional wellbeing of young people through teamwork.
If you, or a young person you know, is in need of mental health support, take a look on Our City to find the projects listed above and get connected with local community groups here to help you.
